Yellow to orange brown. After exposure to light and air, this darkens into a dark brown or dark red brown.

(800-)900 (-1100) kg/m³ at 12% humidity, fresh 1000 - 1200 kg/m³

Grain:
Cross-grain

Fissure:
Requires slow kiln-drying in order to prevent extensive fissure and warping.

Warping:
The wood has a tendency to warping when the drying process is too quick. This can be reduced to a minimum by correct stacking.

Machining:
Due to its high mass density and the cross-grain, tali wood is rather difficult to process and tends to quickly blunt any tools. Strong extraction is required as tali contains substances that are harmful to human health and may cause nose and throat irritation.

General applications:
Heavy outdoors constructions such as hydraulic works and bridges. For floors, parquet floors, thresholds, bosses, bearing carriers and pulleys, wood turning and further applications as under azobé
