Machining:
Kapur is medium suitable for processing,
both with hand tools and machines. Some kapur species contain gritty substance,
causing a tendency to blunting tools. The use of hard-metal cutting tools is
recommended. When planing cross-grain wood, the cutting angle must be 20
degrees in order to prevent fibre from protruding.

Various garden wood articles, see garden
wood range.
General applications:
Kapur is used as garden wood,
interior and exterior window and door frames, wall panelling, plinths,
staircase steps, beams and hides for yachts, car bodies, floors, park benches
etc. The experiences with kapur for outdoor use, however, are negative due to
the hair fissures that occur, even after surface finishing. Kapur is also
applied for manufacturing plywood board. |
