The fresh heartwood is a clear yellow, darkening into brown or red brown with a golden lustre in certain light angles.

Mould - soil contact 1, above soil 1; termites medium durability. Dry wood borers high durability

Gluing:
Excellent, Guariuba is suitable for laminating

  Machining:
Guariuba is medium suitable to suitable for processing, both with hand tools and machines. Wood with cross-grain requires hard-metal tools in order to achieve a smooth surface; it has a blunting effect on tools due to the presence of gritty substances.  Hard-metal cutting tools are recommended. Dry Guariuba contains 0.2 - 1 % grit. It is easy to peel and cut after steaming at 65  °C
