The heartwood ranges from greyish red brown to dark red brown.

Colour of sapwood:
Light brown to grey red brown, 30-60 mm wide

(570-) 610 (-740) kg/m³ at 12% humidity rate.

Grain:
Straight to irregular, sometimes cross-grain

Fissure:
In the early stages of drying some tendency toward fissure and warping.

Good 

Machining:
Easy processing, both manual processing and machining. The wood can be given a smooth finish. In order to prevent internal tension in the tree and to prevent splitting, quick sawing and drying is required for andiroba.

Various sizes sawn for frame production (only on supply), also available with FSC certificate.

General applications:
Frames, furniture, floors and parquet floors, panelling, wood turning and veneer.
