As a Group, Dekker Hout is certified in accordance with the standards and principles of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). Dekker Hout is a member of FSC Netherlands in order to promote the range of FSC-certified timber. This foundation is an initiative and collaboration platform of various parties, including companies, the World Nature Fund, Novib and Environmental Protection. The participants are leading companies from all market sectors.
FSC
Regarding FSC-certified hardwood, waiting around with a passive attitude until supply finds a balance with demand will not do.
Dekker Hout took up the challenge and set up its own in-company production unit in South America. Dekker Hout exclusively processes FSC-certified hardwood, enabling the company to offer about 20,000 m3 of FSC hardwood products per year on the European market.
The options include FSC wood for door and window frames (flawlessly planed and cut to length), FSC garden wood products (decking components, screens, tiles etc.) and FSC door components; FSC floor components, FSC hardwood for the GWW sector, FSC wall panelling, FSC interior door frames and FSC finishing timber (for example plinths and sidings).
PEFC
The Programma for Endorsement of Forest Certfication Schemes (PEFC) is a global system providing a voluntary, independent international forest certification system. This system is based on mutual recognition of national or regional forest certification systems with its own, independent internationally accepted guidelines for durable forest management and trade chain certification. PEFC offers consumers a guarantee relating to the durable origin and production of wood and paper products thanks to independent third party system inspection.
Dekker Hout uses PEFC-certified wood exclusively for wood species and qualities for which no FSC alternatives can be found as yet.
MTCC
Malaysia adheres to its own independent system based on international guidelines for durable forest management: the Malaysian Criteria and Indicators (MC&I). The supervisory body is the independent Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC). An MTCC certificate does not yet guarantee durable forest management - only the legal origin of the wood. Dekker Hout offers this on the Dutch market in the wood species Meranti and Merbau during periods when FSC-certified window, door and frame timber are not sufficiently available.
